The WindLoadAnalysis.com project is a fee-for-service project run by the following collaborators:

  • Mendel University of Argiculture and Forestry Brno, Department of Wood Science (Czech Republic)
  • Safe Trees, Ltd., Rosice (Czech Republic)

The objective of the project is to provide consulting arborists with the necessary additional information that they require to conduct complete and comprehensive tree failure analyses. The methodology has been developed at the Department of Wood Science (wood.mendelu.cz), Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, Czech Republic (www.mendelu.cz).

Doc. Dr. Ing. Petr Horacek
M.S. (Forestry), Dr. (Modeling of material properties)

In 1990 he was admitted into internal PhD study on Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry. From the 1996 he works as head of Department of Wood Science. His scientific activity is focused in field of mathematical and physical modelling of material and properties with emphasis on wood materials and wood based materials. In recent years he is focused on problematics of finite element model of wood structure.

Ing. Jaroslav Kolarik, Ph.D.
M.S. (Forestry), Ph.D. (Plant Physiology)

14 year experience in arboriculture, for 11 years arboricultural consultant, for 4 year forensic expert with specialisation “Failure probability assessment of trees”. Member of the national certification board for the program „European Treeworker“. Member of the International Society of Arboriculture. User of the „Pulling test“ method since 1996. Manager of Safe Trees, Ltd. (consulting company in arboriculture – www.safetrees.cz) and executive head of company Schola Arboricultura, Ltd. (education in arboriculture – www.arboristika.cz/schola).

Ing. Ludek Praus, Ph.D.
M.S. (Agronomy), Ph.D. (Wood Science)

Full-time sceintific senior researcher at the Department of Wood Science. In the year 2005 he defended his doctor thesis with topic "Stability of the tree stem".
